Summary: The First Aid for School Staff is a 5 hour (plus breaks) course designed for School staff (teachers and support staff) to supplement your existing First Aid provision.
(It does not qualify the learner to act as a First Aider for the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981). It does equip the learner to deal with emergencies at a First Aid level until professional help arrives.
It is useful for Support staff, TAs, School club staff etc to provide First Aid when teaching staff are otherwise unavailable – e.g. during breaks. The subject matter covered is what might typically be encountered on a day to day basis at a School.
Anaphylaxis and the use of an Adrenaline injector is covered in support of Benedict’s Law.

The syllabus covers casualties at Primary and Secondary School level, but not paediatric First Aid.
