Bespoke First Aid

Bespoke First Aid

(Click here to return to our full Course list)

Summary: Sometimes an off-the-shelf course is not the best solution. For instance:-

  • You need a First Aid at Work qualification but also need training for looking after secondary school age children (e.g. Activity Centre)
  • You only need a one-day course but also need some information on soft tissue injuries (e.g. Dance teacher)
  • You have a recognised need for specific skills such as Anaphylaxis treatment or extremes of temperature but don’t need the full 3-day First Aid at Work

In these cases a Bespoke course is the answer. We can tailor a course to your needs. Whilst we will always cover the essentials via a Basic Life Support module, the remaining time can be used to your advantage.

You can ‘mix and match’ the topics that you want. See the list, below. The duration of the course will depend on the topics chosen. Typically a trainer can reasonably cover 2-3 topics an hour.

Certification

You have two choices of Certificate depending upon the level of assessment that you need.

Certificate of Attendance valid for 1 year.

This is used when you have a mixed ability group and just want an awareness of skills with no obligation to participate. For example a Church Group that want some information but due to the age bracket would find it difficult to kneel down or lie down. Another reason might be a group larger than 12 where there is not the opportunity to assess everyone to competency standard. More topics can be covered with an Attendance Certificate compared to a Competence Certificate. Although the skills will last, the Certificate will only be valid for 1 year.

Certificate of Competence valid for 3 years

This is used where you require a competency certificate – e.g. a Sports Club – that is valid for 3 years. Class sizes are limited to 12 per trainer and each individual will be assessed on each skill. They need to be assessed and pass each skills to be certified as ‘competent’. Any learner that cannot be classed as ‘competent’ will be issued with a 1-year Certificate of Attendance, as above.

After that, we can include any First Aid topics that you wish within the time available. For example:
